Computer Technical Support

Turn towards technology! The Computer Support program allows students to acquire the knowledge, skills and techniques that are currently highly sought after in the world of new information technologies. In October 2006, a report by Caroline Graveline was broadcast on CBC Radio which highlighted the current situation: “There is a lack of information specialists in Canada."

The Cisco A + Certification program is now available through Tyark College. Students may also be eligible a DEC/DEP available through CEGEP de Rosemont in Network Management and/or a DEC/DEP at CEGEP de Maisonneuve in Multimedia Integration Techniques.

Program Duration

1800 hours (approximately 18 months) including classroom training and workshops.

Proof of Studies

Students receive a Diploma of Vocational Studies (DEP) from the Ministere of Education, du Loisir et du Sport du Québec.

Skills Acquired

  • assemble, repair and optimize a workstation;
  • make maximum use of application software;
  • to effectively use operating systems (e.g. Linux, Windows, MacOS);
  • use various means of telecommunications;
  • create and operate a database;
  • provide assistance to customers from a call center;
  • maintain, connect workstations and servers;
  • use WINDOWS, LINUX, NOVELL, MAC;
  • carry out tasks on individual computers or networks;
  • solve problems related to computers.
